EPISODE 111 | Us vs. Them: Antisemitism Goes to School
Guest: Scott Shay, president of Chai Mitzvah and author of Conspiracy U
Hamas forces swept into Israel on October 7, 2023, committing atrocities and taking hostages. Literally the next day, American student groups were blaming Israel. Protests on campuses began to multiply and today the situation seems out of control and pro-Israel and pro-Palestine groups go at one another while school administrations react heavy-handedly. What's behind all the shrill rhetoric?
Scott Shay's 2021 book Conspiracy U looked at antisemitic trends on American campuses, and saw an uptick in sales at the end of last year as some of the things he'd talked about seemed to be coming to the fore. He shares some of his thoughts as to what is going on today on American universities.
